Location: Fuji Shibazakura Festival, Japan
Tour Departure: Shinjuku
Visiting Japan in spring has always been a dream of mine, and this year, it finally became a reality. One of the highlights of our trip was the Fuji Shibazakura Festival, a breathtaking event where vibrant pink moss phlox carpets the fields with Mount Fuji standing majestically in the background.
The Journey from Shinjuku
My husband and I joined a guided day tour from Shinjuku, making the experience seamless and stress-free. Early in the morning, we met our group and boarded a comfortable bus. The scenic drive took us through the picturesque countryside, with anticipation building as we neared the festival grounds.
First Impressions of the Festival
As we arrived, the first thing that struck me was the vivid sea of pink, purple, and white flowers stretching as far as the eye could see. The sight was surreal, with the iconic peak of Mount Fuji adding an almost magical backdrop. The air was fresh, filled with the light floral scent of shibazakura (moss phlox), and the cool spring breeze made the walk around the festival even more enjoyable.

Exploring the Festival
We spent hours strolling through the carefully designed flower fields, stopping frequently to take photos from different angles. There were various viewing spots, each offering a unique perspective of the blooms against Mount Fuji. The Reflection Lake was particularly mesmerizing it created a perfect mirror image of the scenery.
Local Delicacies & Souvenirs
No festival visit is complete without indulging in local food! We explored the Shibazakura Gourmet Festival, where we tried: Pink Shibazakura Soft Serve A deliciously light and floral-flavored treat.
A Houtou Noodles A comforting Yamanashi specialty with thick wheat noodles in a miso-based broth.

Strawberry Mochi Sweet, chewy, and filled with fresh Japanese strawberries.

Before leaving, we stopped by the souvenir shops to pick up Fuji-themed trinkets and Shibazakura-scented candles, perfect keepsakes to remind us of this magical day.
A Day to Remember
As the sun began to set, we boarded our bus back to Shinjuku, feeling deeply fulfilled. The Fuji Shibazakura Festival was everything I had imagined and more a dreamy landscape straight out of a postcard. It was a day filled with beauty, nature, and unforgettable memories with my husband.
If you ever find yourself in Japan during spring, I highly recommend adding this festival to your itinerary. It’s an experience that will leave you in awe of Japans natural Wonders!
